Neither creation nor destruction can exist without the other, the relationship is symbiotic rather than adversarial. In Ashes to Ashes, players fell trees in a forest to build with their lumber. But you can't get something for nothing, and the land will eventually no longer be able to support new growth unless you burn down your own creations to fertilize the soil with their ashes.
