Why should I do Global Game Jam?
Mostly, because it’s fun, but it’s also great way to improve your game development skills. You’ll meet new people in the industry and be part of a huge world wide event. It’s also great for your portfolio, as it gives you a finished game to show off. Some great and successful games even started off as Game Jam Games, such as Surgeon Simulator and Screencheat.
If you’re an aspiring game developer there is probably no single thing that will do more for your skills than doing as many game jams as possible.

We hosted the Christchurch Game Jam in 2018 and this was a huge success. We took a break this year while we moved to a brand new building in June.
This is a brand new site for our Game Jam this year. Our new building is jam packed with computer labs and spaces for creating. Come along and have an amazing weekend creating games and connecting with other game designers.
Transport / amenities
Our new building is located very close to the central bus exchange and there is on-street parking all around us. We are very close to South City Mall and plenty of cafes and eateries. We have a kitchen and bathrooms onsite and plenty of space for relaxing over the weekend.
Things to Bring
Your computer and all it’s bits/powercords/powerbox (please label them too!)
Wifi dongle if your computer isn’t wifi savvy already
A water bottle that seals (easier than buying someone a new computer) – Also good for storing soft drinks
(there is a no-food in computer lab policy onsite)
A coffee mug with a seal-able top
Headphones
Any Medications you expect to need
Snacks (we will provide some food, but bring your faves if you need some))
A notebook / Pen
