Welcome to Guildford GGJ19!

This year Guildford will be hosting Global Game Jam at the Wargaming Guildford office, who has kindly welcomed us to use their spacious communal areas filled with plenty of natural light.

GGJ Information

The Game Jam starts on Friday and ends on Sunday. The site will be closed at night as there will have to be on-site security for the duration of the event. But on the plus side, there is on-site security for the duration of the event...

We will receive the Jam theme at 5pm and will not be allowed to post it publically until the last jam location gets it (Hawaii) at their 5pm local time. (For reference, previous themes can be found here: http://globalgamejam.org/history)

The games will have to be uploaded on Sunday by 4pm and for technical issues it’s advised to start the upload at 3pm (If there are any changes you will be notified during the jam.)

The WiFi will be available throughout the jam but we suggest you download all the necessary software or tools you will need ahead of time.

There will be some photography at the jam so if you're uncomfortable with that do let me know in advance or on the day.

Please note that due to the GGJ’s new age policy we must restrict the jam to 18+ only. More information here: http://globalgamejam.org/news/word-about-our-new-age-policy

After the jam we'll go out for drinks to celebrate everyone's hard work!

https://wargaminguk.com/en/

Wargaming UK is the latest studio in Wargaming’s global network of 4,500 employees across 18 locations.

“We are in a unique position – we have the backing of a global company, AND we have autonomy over our own creative direction – it’s really exciting. We are proud to be a part of Wargaming’s enduring legacy, as well as its reputation as a great company to work for,” said Studio Head Sean Decker.

The new custom-built studio is located in Guildford Business Park and is home to an expanding team working on an unannounced new title.”

Is there WiFi?

Wifi will be available at location.

To avoid exploding from stress we recommend downloading all major software in advance of the jam. Suggestions include: the latest version of Unity, Photoshop, Maya, Soundly, and so on.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: Get familiar with version control software like Sourcetree, Git, and for small teams Unity Collaborate. This will save you A LOT of valuable time and allow your team to easily work on the project at the same time, as well as backing up your work.
Alternatively at the very least bring big hard drives.
