Jam Site Description:

Chronyko GameJame 2020!

This GameJam is open to everyone who has supported Chronyko over the last 2 years. So this includes our employees, challenge writers, suppliers, artists and their friends or family. There are limited spaces at this jam, however, if there are places that are unfilled then we will consider jammers who want to join from the wider public.

We game lots of games each year but never have we created something in such as short time frame. Our aim this year is to test ourselves, and see what we can create in such a short time frame, with no prior planning on a specific theme.

We will be hosting this jam in the chronyko office in Reading so there are plenty of cafes and supermarkets within a short walking distance, and just-eat or deliveroo are available to bring food to the front door if the weather is really bad.

What to bring with you?

A positive attitude is the most important thing to arrive with.

If you want to be involved with virtual elements of the jam then please bring with you a laptop to code on as we can't provide loan computer equipment. Please also bring notebooks, pens and pencils if you prefer a more practical approach to design.

There will be tea and coffee available through the day but lunch, dinner and snacks are not provided. That means you will need to bring with you any snacks, drinks, club mate or food that you need to sustain you through the jam (or the money to purchase food and drink locally).

Rules of Jamspace

This jamspace will be in our office environment so you will need to follow the general rules of courtesy. These also double up as the escape room rules of engagement.

  • Be respectful to each other and listen to others
  • You'll be able to help more than you think, everyone has a unique skillset that will be useful in this mission.
  • Work together as a team and communicate!
  • No physical force will be required at any point during the jam
  • Clean up after yourself and put any rubbish in the bin
  • If something doesn't make sense, or you don't know how to use a tool then ask for some help.
  • No dangerous behaviour. At no point will you need to stand on chairs, move the ceiling tiles or put your fingers in plug sockets.

There aren't any showers onsite so we can't offer office camping, so we recommend everyone goes home to get some proper sleep and starts each day properly refreshed. This means the office will be open from 9:30am and open until late.* Also, please remember that although this is a 48-hour event, that doesn't mean you need to be working on it for 48 hours straight. Be honest about how much time you can commit from the start, look after yourself and don't push yourself to exhaustion (and importantly don't judge others who can't join in for the long haul).

* this will be sometime after dinner but when the person with the keys decides its time to stop and go home.
