Good Afternoon UCCS Global Game Jam Registrants!

 

In this email you will find helpful information about this weekend’s event. As a registered attendee we look forward to meeting you tonight. If something has come up and you are not able to attend please email us as soon as possible so that we can have an accurate count for registrants.
 

*Please note: If you are a registered attendee under the age of 18 you will need permission from our organizer to attend and an adult chaperone while onsite. If you are under the age of 18 please contact Angus Chassels at  [email protected] .

 

Location, Parking and Meeting Spot

 

Directions to the UCCS Campus:

 

1.       The general address for UCCS is 1420 Austin Bluffs Parkway.

2.       Enter the campus at the 3-way intersection on Austin Bluffs and UCCS (not Meadow Ln). From Nevada, this is the 2nd stoplight on Austin Bluffs; from Union, this is the 2nd stoplight on Austin Bluffs.

3.       Proceed into the roundabout and exit at the 2nd exit to go left toward the Parking Garage.

Best Location to Park:
Parking in the covered parking garage is the closest location to the UCCS Global Game Jam meeting spot. Registrants will not have to pay for parking. Campus police have been informed of the event and there is a ‘do not ticket’ in place for this event.

Meeting Location:  Osborne Center Building/ K-12 Room

To begin the jam please go to the K12 Room in the Osborne Center for Science & Engineering.  Click here to view a map. The Osborne Center is noted as “OCSE” on the map.

The door you will enter the building is before the main entrance and to the right. (see below) Once you enter this door there will be a stairway going up. At the top of the stairs is the K12 room.

The K-12 room is located at the top of the stairs, and it will say “STEM – K-12” on the glass wall. This room is the check-in location.

The event will run from Friday, January 25th at (doors open at 4:30) 5pm until Sunday, January 27th  at 5 pm.  We hope to see you there all 3 days! The complete schedule is as follows:

 

Friday, January 25th

 4:30-5 pm: Check-in and Registration

6 pm: Group Forming and Dinner

8 pm: Brainstorming

9 pm: Pitching Ideas and Critique

1am: Jam closes for the evening return home and rest.

 

 

Saturday, January 26th

8 am: Jam reopens

9 am: Breakfast

Noon: Deadline to Create User Profile and Game Page

12 pm: Lunch

5:30 pm: Dinner

1am: Jam closes for the evening return home and rest.

 

Sunday, January 27th  

8 am: Jam reopens

9 am: Breakfast

12 pm: Lunch

3 pm: Deadline for Handing in Games

The El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Commercialization (EPIIC) will host the 6th Annual UCCS Global Game Jam at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs from January 25-27, 2019.  The jam will be held in the BI Lab in Osborne Center A206.  The jamming starts at 5pm Friday 1/25 (we will open about 4pm).

Angus Chassels, UC Entrepreneur in Residence and faculty member in the UCCS Bachelor of Innovation program is the organizer of this event. You can contact him with questions by e-mail:  [email protected]

The Global Game Jam is a 48 hour event, but like many locations, our site closes at night (approx 1am-8am) so participants can get rested for the next day.  REMEMBER:  Participants should plan to attend the entire duration of the event as your team will need you to complete your game! 

We are looking to provide Lunch and Dinner and plenty of caffeine sources and snacks for each jam day!  (So:  Dinner on Friday night, Lunch and Dinner Saturday, and Lunch Sunday)

Traditionally the focus in the past has been on PC video games but V/R & A/R, board, dice and card game makers are also very welcome.

We have had some amazing table top games developed over the years! 

Registration is FREE but you MUST REGISTER to participate!!  No exceptions!

UCCS and the Global Game Jam organizers are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of race, color, sex, disability, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran’s status, age, or physical appearance.

Onsite security and first aid response provided by the UCCS Police.

Food Options: 
Meals provided on site.
Available Tools or Technology: 
PCs, monitors, software, projectors, eye tracker, VIVE, art supplies for board and card games etc. We recommend that participants bring their own laptops (if available) and any favorite dev/design software not offered for free via GGJ.
Who Can Participate: 
Anyone who meets the age requirements. Contact the organizer if you have any questions.
Age Restrictions: 
18+ only or accompanied by registered legal guardian. Under 18 MUST contact the organizers first!!
