Hello everyone!
AIE Seattle is excited to be an organizer for GGJ 2017, and partner with Pacific Science Center who will provide a space for the event, including showing off your games on the Paccar IMAX Screen.
Jamming at Pacific Science Center
You will be working in Ackerley Family Gallery which is a publically accessible space during public hours. As you work, visitors will pass by see you making your amazing games. We ask you to act as an ambassador to Pacific Science Center. This offers the excellent opportunity to get real-time feedback on asset-design and potentially get some play testers. It also means that you will be treated as volunteers to Pacific Science Center. Jamming will continue after hours as you will have an uninterrupted 48 hours of jamming.
Check in and Arrival
Please arrive on Friday between 4:00 and 5:00 PM. You will be directed to check-in where you will be given a lanyard that will grant you access to Pacific Science Center for the remainder of the event.
Parking in general for long amounts of time is expensive around Seattle Center. We strongly suggest participants to try to come in groups to split the cost, or to park further away and bus to the event.
Overnight
Security will be onsite and assisting overnight, which means the Pacific Science Center will be open the full 48 hours with no interruptions. Please note that there will be a specific door that all participants are supposed to use after hours, located on the North side of the Pacific Science Center entering near the Paccar IMAX Theater. More information will be provided at the event. Participants can come and go freely between 7:00 AM and 1:00 AM both Saturday and Sunday. There will be space provided to sleep overnight, but as always, take care of yourself! You are definitely welcome to head home to sleep, shower, and come back the next day for more jamming.
Food
Food and drinks are available from the Food Court located on the second floor of the Seattle Center Armory, and all around the surrounding area. Dick's is a Jam favorite, located just 2 blocks from Key Arena, and open late! There is also a McDonalds, QFC, Safeway, and Metropolitan Market within walking distance.
Equipment
As usual for all game jam type events, everyone will need to bring whatever they need to be self-sufficient, including any computer equipment and peripherals. Basic network access will be provided through WiFi and ethernet. We suggest to have all your required software, files, and assets downloaded and saved locally, as cloud services may not always be accessible. Additionally, please try to avoid downloading large files whenever possible.
