About the GGJ Groningen jam:
For the first time in Global Game Jam history, the city of Groningen (The Netherlands) is added to the roster of locations. Hosts to the Jam are The Big Building, Indietopia, Hanze University of Applied Sciences and GL!TCH, the student body of Game Design & Development studies at Hanze. They offer an excellent location: the former mail sorter rooms of PostNL, the Dutch postal service. Rebranded as ‘The Big Building’, the site now hosts dozens of ICT and startup companies (and ample space, sanitary facilities, a smokers' room and a cantina), providing a background that’s both stimulating and practical to the GGJ. For non-Northerners: The Big Building sits next to Groningen station; your train stops at its doorstep. Also, the lively town centre is at walking distance if you need to take a breather, as are supermarkets for foraging jammers.
In time-honoured Dutch gamejam fashion, participants are allowed to stay at the jam site overnight. Please bring your own sleeping gear - we have enough room for you, but no beds. Also bring your own computers - we provide power and WiFi.
The hosts look forward to seeiing you!
