Rituals of War 2476

In the year 476 CE, the leader of the Ostrogoths, Odoacer, deposed Romulus Augustulus. The Western (Roman) Empire and the Eastern (Byzantine) Empire were driven even further apart. The West faded soon thereafter; the East, in 1453. Two millennia later, the empires have been resurrected. The Roman Empire of Destruction (R.E.D.) and the Byzantine Legacy Unified Empire (B.L.U.E.) are spacefaring entities in the 25th century. In a yearly ritual on the last weekend of January, the two sides amass armies of spaceships and fight to the death on an open battlefield.
