Hello! RVA Game Jams is so excited to announce that our keynote speaker for our 2015 Global Game Jam Event will be Catt Small!

Catt is a proud gamer, Product Designer, and Web Developer at SoundCloud. She started programming interactive games at the age of 12 and has been going ever since. In addition to her work at SoundCloud , Catt makes video games with friends and teaches game development via The Code Liberation Foundation.

 In 2013 Small founded Tech Under Thirty, a meetup group for young people who are interested in technology. She also co-founded Code Liberation, an initiative to increase the number of women who program video games; Brooklyn Gamery, a game development studio that uses Agile and Lean Startup methodologies to create polished games quickly; and Buttered Toast Studios, a game development studio that focuses on making educational games. She intends to use her knowledge and skills to promote positive social change.

 The Keynote address, Q and A and Game Jam will all be free and open to the public.

5:30 p.m. – Doors open for Global Game Jam  804RVA Coworking Lab 1657 W. Broad. St.
6:00 p.m. - Global Game Jame event begins
6:30 p.m. – Catt Small’s keynote presentation begins
7:00 – 7:30 p.m. – Q and A with Catt Samll
8:00 p.m. – Global Game Jam begins with the announcement of the secret theme. Please do NOT share the theme or ideas about the theme on social media outlets until it has been announced in every time zone.
1:00 a.m – Doors close for the night (subject to change)

Global Game Jam and the Keynote address will be held at  804RVA Coworking space,  a collaborative, membership-based co-working space in Richmond, VA for freelancers, professionals, entrepreneurs, small businesses, programmers and creative types.  They have generously opened their space for us to use. Please be respectful of the space and clean up after yourselves, do not use or consume items you didn’t bring.

This venue has:
Free Wi-Fi access, power, two bath rooms, white boards, a private phone booth, lots of desk space, large flat-screen monitors, FREE locally roasted coffee, microwave, refrigerators, and is in close proximity to several hotels, restaurants and convenience stores.


There is plenty of free street parking and you are welcome to park in the Lowe’s Home Improvement Store parking lot across the street. DO NOT park in the lot directly next to the building. It is for residents only and your automobile may be towed.

If you need a place to crash for the duration of Global Game Jam or if you have space to host visiting jammers please say so in the FB Group.

Otherwise the closest hotel is  the
Comfort Inn Conference Center Midtown.
